Energy-Saving Optimization for Electric Vehicles in Car-Following Scenarios Based on Model Predictive Control

In this paper, an economy-oriented car-following control (EOCFC) strategy is proposed for electric vehicles in scenarios. Specifically, a controller based on model predictive (MPC) developed to optimize the host vehicle’s speed better energy economy while ensuring good performance and ride comfort. The consumption accurately quantified form of demand power, which incorporated cost function optimization. EOCFC evaluated using three standard test cycles, i.e., New European Driving Cycle (NEDC), Urban Dynamometer Schedule (UDDS) Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test (WLTC), comparison with typical multi-objective adaptive cruise strategy. evaluation results demonstrate that improves vehicle by 0.53%, 3.33% 1.51%, under NEDC, UDDS WLTC cycles respectively.
